"Remembered Love (LE)"

My favourite rose of our garden opened while we were away over Labour Weekend.  So out with the camera and a very satisfying hour or so of play.   To me, this image captures the essence of a time gone, of a love remembered, but not forgotten.

Just got these 3 little beauties back from the framers yesterday.  First of my work to get properly printed and framed, ready for the wall as a Fine Art Photographic print.  I’m really pleased with the framing, it sets off the images beautifully.  It’s a bit humbling to see my work presented this way, finally.  I can almost believe now that Yes, I can do this.  That the dream may actually become a reality.  Framing was done by Cath at The Framers Room in Dowling Street, Dunedin.  Awesome lady and I definitely recommend them and will be sending any work I can their way.  Printed for me by Murray Eskdale of Dunedin on Hahnemuehle Photo Rag 308 smooth cotton rag using Epson archival pigment inks.  Love it and quite exciting.

Gallery highlight -  "A Breath of Spring"

An extreme close up of an alstroemeria petal. I love their myriad of colours and interesting shapes and when you get in really close they transform into the most wonderful delicate and subtle of images. Reminding me of those warm days of spring with a promise of summer to come. The full image can be found in the "A Dream of Beauty" Gallery.

Aaarrrhhh! What a problem to have. Too many photos and not enough time. Out with my tulips and my macro lens. My idea of a little slice of paradise. Feeling very fortunate indeed!

And with our new little girl Callie to give me a hand. She was a stray that turned up 6 weeks ago and we’ve now adopted. Our other 2 girls Pippa and Misty didn’t chase her away so she’s stayed with us. She’s such a lovely wee thing.

Tulips all lined up in the sheltered spot by the garage to protect them from the wind.  We’ve been getting some fierce winds lately and as usual, just when the tulips open!

Monday 5th October 2020

It was too grey and threatening rain yesterday to spend the day in the garden so we went for a road trip to Lawrence. Took the long way thru Lake Mahinerangi. Gravel road most of the way and still pockets of snow when you got up on the ridge. Got to Lawrence and discovered the old Weatherston Brewery ruins and Daffodil farm. Great place to spend an hour or so. Good to get the camera out again, with a few photo ops - crumbling brick, an old decaying house or two, and thousands of daffodils. Run and looked after by volunteers.  Great day out.

Friday 2nd October 2020

What a joy to come out of the week of snow showers and wild winds of spring, to truly discover spring! My tulips are flowering! I haven’t grown tulips for several years so it’s a real joy to me to be able to grow them again in our wonderful new home in Outram.
