Art Supplies and Notebooks
It’s cold enough today that I’ve had the fire on since midday, and have been flitting between the studio and the lounge. Just actually looked at the coffee table and realised that it tells it’s own story of my current art endeavours. I’m being drawn to painting again. Hasn’t happened for a few years, but every now and then that’s where my creative goes. Might also be the hunkering down feeling that we get as winter rolls in. And with the painting I’m doing, on one variation in the series I want to put some text on the painting and the format I want may be best captured by calligraphy. So out came my dip pens, nibs and inks which haven’t seen the light of day for years. Some fun experimentation coming up. Especially as I’ve never really used them properly, so a lot of trial and error ahead.
And who else loves notebooks. I think I overindulge on them, and have lots of spare ones. My excuse today was that my general art notes notebook is nearly full so I need to start a new one. And any of you who know what I mean will know that it’s very personal as to which notebook you use. Spiral or book bound? Plain pages or ruled? Quality of paper, and even colour of paper. It all has a bearing. I think I’ve settled on the “Be Wild” one, which has lots of cool inspirational quotes throughout and the paper quality has a nice feel to it.
Hoping you’re all staying warm and inspired.
